Nice post. I especially like the Enron bit. My dad worked for MCI for 25 years and was there when they were bought out by WorldCom, went through the entire bankruptcy with them, and then got a new job with Convergys shortly after the old MCI was purchased by Verizon Business. Let's just say he got short sheeted on the stock and is not too happy with the dishonesty the execs had with he and the rest of the employees...

Great comment! Because I didn't want to put anybody to sleep with my blog entry I couldn't make it too long. Thanks for your comment!

You pointed out that the "Text Generation" no longer pays attention to traditional advertising due to innovations in technology like the advent of Tivo, internet video streaming, downloadable mp3 content, etc. This is a great point as to why traditional methods of advertising don't affect that generation much. However, you don't distinguish between the "Text Generation" and older generations when you state that "traditional advertising is losing its effectiveness". Wouldn't traditional advertising be just as effective for older generations? It seems to me that while traditional advertising may not be the most effective way to advertise to the new generation of texting teenagers, it may still be quite effective for the baby boomer generation and the elderly, who still read magazines, newspapers, and watch television without the benefits of Tivo.

I am impressed with how accurately the message was transferred from voice to text (despite the few minor errors). It is too bad that only about 30 seconds of voice recording is allowed, but then again I guess that is all you need if you are just trying to "jott" something down as a reminder. This seems like an innovative idea that is convenient for someone who doesn't like to carry around a planner.
